The Solarnative ChargeWhiz offers flexible configuration options to adapt to your personal needs. You’re in no rush and want to maximize your solar charging rate? Done. Gotta run to pick up your kid from soccer in fifteen minutes? Just activate full-speed charging with a tap in the App.
If you have a PV plant, you can charge your car with solar energy from your own roof. Most chargers allow only 3‑phase charging that needs a minimum power of 4.14 kW to start operating. Therefore, any PV surplus below this wattage cannot be used, and is fed into the public grid instead. In fact, with a regular residential rooftop PV plant of 5–10 kWp, there is only rarely a surplus of 4.14 kW or more, so more often than not your electric vehicle will not be charged with solar energy. With the Solarnative ChargeWhiz, even a small surplus can be used to charge your car, because the device allows 1‑phase-charging starting at 1.38 kW. This way, you can charge your electric car from the sun most of the time — what a warm feeling!
With its bidirectional charging capability, the Solarnative ChargeWhiz is ready for the future of e‑mobility: it allows homeowners to integrate their bidirectional electric car into the Smart Energy Home as extra storage unit. During the day, the smart surplus charging functionality feeds unused solar energy from your PV plant into the car making it available from the vehicle’s battery when it is needed later in the day, e.g. for cooking your family dinner.
Charging configurations are easily controlled with the Solarnative App. As with all Solarnative devices, no data cables are required, as communication is completely wireless.
